Each accessible parking space is required to be identified by a vertically mounted sign. The symbol painted on the ground is not required although it is done quite often. The reason a vertical sign is required is because snow and ice will obscure symbols on the ground. For you Texans, snow is a type of precipitation in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall from clouds.
This sign is required to be at least 60″ above the paving surface, but there is no maximum height….maybe there should be.
The woman in the photo is not 3′-0″, she is normal height.
